Goodbye Dear Bora

One year ago I crashed my car...

19.616100, -99.184432
Av 11 de Julio, Lecheria, EdoMéx.

This point doesn't fall precisely within any of the 150m2 squares that Geotab reports as a dangerous zone, but it is very close to one of these geohashes (9g3rwfy). It doesn't have a high severity score, but it seems that I was one of the 11 incidents (harsh breaking and/or possible accidents) reported there during this last year.

Hazardous Driving Areas in Mexico

I've been exploring some of Geotab's open datasets for transportation. These data collections are available through Google Big Query, but I didn't really had to get deep into technical details since the instances are already built and ready to use. So, I only had to make a simple SQL query to filter the results for Mexico which resulted in a table representing 92 thousand incidents of harsh braking and probable accidents.

To visualize this I first used Excel's 3D Maps:

I also discovered Google's Data Studio and although I haven't played much with it, I really liked how easy it was to put together some reports. In this example, charts are interactive and data can be filtered by simply clicking a value in the table or the map. To to select multiple values, use Ctrl + click.
